Natal (Brazil), is a city in northeastern Brazil and it is the capital of Rio Grande do Norte State, at the mouth of the Potengi River near the Atlantic coast. It is an important seaport and is served by railroads and an airport; manufactures include textiles and processed food. The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (1958) is here. Natal was founded by the Portuguese in 1599.
